Fatal Thomasville car crash death of Ashley Marie Springer McDonald – Obituary

Ashley Marie Springer McDonald, 37, was killed in a horrific traffic collision in Thomasville, Alabama, on May 6 when a semi-truck crashed into several vehicles stopped at a red light. She was driving the first vehicle hit and died at the scene from her injuries.

Ashley was a devoted mother of two children and worked at a local fast food restaurant to support her family. Known for her resilience and warm heart, she was described by loved ones as someone who always put her children first and worked hard to provide for them.

The crash happened just before noon at the intersection of Highway 43 and South Industrial Park Drive. The semi-truck, operated by 45-year-old Andrii Dmyterko of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, reportedly made no attempt to brake before slamming into four cars.

Thomasville Police and emergency crews arrived quickly to a chaotic scene where two lives were lost and four others were injured. Mayor Sheldon Day, also a firefighter who responded to the crash, called it one of the worst incidents he’s witnessed in his decades of service.

Investigators believe negligence played a role, and Dmyterko is now in custody, facing two charges of vehicular manslaughter. The FBI is assisting in the investigation due to language barriers and the driver’s international status.

As the Thomasville community grieves, many have come forward to express their sorrow and support for Ashley’s children. Her life, cut short by a tragic accident, leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Ashley’s family, friends, and neighbors continue to call for justice as they remember her for her strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her children.
