Fatal Burnsville domestic stabbing death of Danielle Grace Warren – Obituary
Danielle Grace Warren, a 32-year-old mother of three, was fatally stabbed inside her Burnsville home on May 7, with two of her young children present during the tragic incident. Authorities have charged 48-year-old Jason Philip Filas in connection with her death.
Police were dispatched to Warren’s residence on the 2000 block of 117th Street East shortly after 9:30 a.m. after Warren contacted her sister, expressing fear over Filas’ behavior and her plan to leave with her children. A second call from Warren to her sister—made to appear as though she was speaking with police—was abruptly cut off after she shouted, “He has a knife! Call 911!”
According to the complaint, Filas answered the phone when the sister called back and reportedly said, “She should have never cheated on me. You better call 911.” Responding officers found Warren unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner confirmed she suffered at least nine stab wounds to her head, neck, and upper torso.
Following the attack, Filas fled but was spotted driving in Lakeville. During a traffic stop, he allegedly urged officers to shoot him before they subdued him with tasers and placed him under arrest.
Records show that Filas had been involved in recent domestic violence incidents at the same address. He was previously charged with domestic assault in March and violated a no-contact order in early April, which was then lifted later that month for reasons not made public.
Warren’s murder has reignited concerns over the enforcement and dismissal of protective orders in domestic violence cases.
