Fatal Marrero car crash death of Gordon Cordes – Obituary

A tragic vehicle accident in Marrero on Friday, May 9, claimed the life of 69-year-old Gordon Cordes, a resident of Barataria.

Louisiana State Police Troop B began their investigation into the crash that occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Leo Kerner Parkway, close to Parc Des Familles. Preliminary findings suggest that Cordes was behind the wheel of a 2020 Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling southbound when the vehicle veered off the roadway. The truck struck a utility pole and several trees in the center median.

Cordes was wearing a seatbelt but sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. As standard procedure, toxicology tests have been requested as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
