Fatal Limestone County car crash death of William D. Hardrick – Obituary

A devastating crash on Tuesday in Limestone County led to the death of 22-year-old William D. Hardrick of Birmingham, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Hardrick was driving a Chevrolet Impala when it was struck by a Peterbilt tractor-trailer. The impact caused his car to veer off the road, crash into a fence and a guardrail, and flip over. He was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities say the truck driver, identified as John W. McAdams, left the scene without stopping. Before hitting Hardrick’s vehicle, McAdams had also collided with a Nissan Sentra, whose driver sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital.

The tractor-trailer eventually stopped after hitting several vehicles and caught fire. McAdams was taken into custody by troopers from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division. He now faces multiple charges including murder, DUI, and two felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident.

The incident happened on Interstate 65 near U.S. 31, roughly two miles north of Athens, and remains under investigation.
