Fatal Erie Township crash death of Tyler A. Collins – Obituary

Tyler A. Collins, a 27-year-old resident of Temperance, lost his life early Friday morning following a serious vehicle accident on Suder Avenue in Erie Township, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. when an SUV carrying Collins and 26-year-old Dustin L. Striggow of Toledo was heading southbound on Suder, just past Lotus Drive. The driver failed to properly navigate a curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the road. It hit a utility pole, snapping it in half, then collided with a tree before overturning and landing on its roof.

Collins was ejected from the SUV and transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was later declared deceased. Authorities are still working to determine who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Striggow was also taken to St. Vincent with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Investigators believe speed and alcohol played a role in the accident, and noted that neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact 734-240-7541.
