Ernest F. Lamkey dies in fatal McLean County drowning

Fatal McLean County drowning death of Ernest F. Lamkey – Obituary

Authorities in McLean County have confirmed that 77-year-old Ernest F. Lamkey of Bloomington drowned in Lake Bloomington on Thursday.

 

Emergency services were called to the area near Hudson after reports that a man had fallen into the lake and was unable to get out. Deputies from the McLean County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find Lamkey still in the water and unresponsive.

 

Responders from the Hudson Fire Department pulled him from the lake and performed CPR before transporting him to Carle BroMenn Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead at 7:23 p.m.

 

An initial autopsy determined the cause of death was drowning. The incident is still being reviewed by the coroner and sheriff’s departments.
