Nyron A. Erickson dies in fatal Freshwater Pond shooting

Fatal Freshwater Pond shooting death of Nyron A. Erickson – Obituary

Nyron A. Erickson, 32, was shot and killed in what appears to be a drive-by shooting on the afternoon of Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Freshwater Pond, located on the western side of Tortola in the Virgin Islands.

At the time of the incident, Erickson was reportedly riding a scooter when a gunman opened fire using an automatic assault rifle.

Eyewitnesses nearby reported hearing a series of rapid gunshots. The shooting occurred near a gas station and wash bay just before 3:00 PM. Emergency responders pronounced Erickson dead at the scene.

Erickson had previously made headlines due to legal troubles involving international financial crimes. He was extradited to the United States in early 2023 to face allegations related to conspiracy and the illegal transfer of funds.

However, the case was later dropped due to insufficient evidence, and he returned to the Virgin Islands in September 2023. Shortly after his return, he faced a new set of charges—totaling twenty-one counts—and was initially denied bail until it was granted following legal advocacy from his attorney, Hugh Wildman.

The investigation into his death is ongoing as police continue to assess the crime scene and gather information.
