Fatal San Juan County motorcycle crash death of Bruce Griffith – Obituary

Bruce Griffith, a 71-year-old man from Copper Mountain, Colorado, lost his life in a motorcycle accident near the entrance to Canyonlands National Park in San Juan County, Utah.

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon along County Road 143, close to the Island in the Sky district entrance of the park. Emergency teams, including park rangers, sheriff’s deputies, Utah Highway Patrol, and local paramedics, responded swiftly after the crash was reported around 2 p.m. Despite their efforts, Griffith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by park officials and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

About an hour after Griffith’s crash, authorities also responded to a separate fatal incident along County Road 313, near the Lisbon Valley Mine. That case remains under investigation, and the identity of the other driver has not yet been disclosed.
