Fatal Compton shooting death of Eric Washington – Obituary

Eric Washington, 53, has been identified as the man killed in a shooting that took place late Friday night in Compton.

Authorities from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were called to the 100 block of North Poinsettia Avenue, near East Compton Boulevard, at 11:08 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Washington had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He was declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

This shooting marked the second fatal incident reported in Compton on the same day. Earlier that afternoon, a 12-year-old boy was also shot and killed at Fig/Oleander Park. A 17-year-old suspect has since been taken into custody in connection with that case.
