Fatal Magnolia, North Carolina shooting death of David Bradley White – Obituary

David Bradley White, armed with an ax, was shot and killed by homeowners in Magnolia, North Carolina, during an attempted break-in early Sunday morning, according to local authorities.

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office reported that around 6:30 a.m. on May 11, White attempted to forcibly enter a residence on Sheffield Road. As he tried to break in, the residents inside the home opened fire, striking him multiple times.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found White’s body at the base of the back stairs. Officers noted visible damage to the door and recovered a large ax and other weapons near his body. White was officially identified shortly afterward.

Following an initial investigation that included interviews and scene analysis, the sheriff’s office and district attorney determined that no criminal charges would be filed against the homeowners. However, officials stated that the case remains under active investigation.

Magnolia, a quiet community located about an hour east of Fayetteville near Interstate 40, was shaken by the violent encounter, which occurred on Mother’s Day morning.
