Leroy Sadler, 60, was found dead in his Keithville, Louisiana home on May 5, 2025, after authorities say he shot and killed three family members before taking his own life. Deputies from the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office were responding to a welfare check when they heard a gunshot from inside the residence. Upon entry, they discovered the bodies of Leroy, his wife Judy Sadler, 64, his son James Sadler, 29, and his 2-year-old granddaughter, Adalynn Mae Sadler.

Loved ones described Leroy as a man who deeply loved his granddaughter, making the incident all the more confounding and heartbreaking. His daughter-in-law, Kara Hanning, who is Adalynn’s mother, said she never imagined he could do something so horrific, especially to a child he cherished. She revealed that Leroy had been grieving the loss of his stepdaughter to cancer just months earlier, and that Judy Sadler had also been battling health issues. She believes the emotional toll and accumulated stress may have driven him to a breaking point.

Despite the devastating outcome, Hanning expressed forgiveness, stating she could not hold hatred in her heart for Leroy. The family is now calling for greater awareness and support for mental health, urging others who are struggling to seek help before tragedy strikes.
