Fatal Sioux Falls shooting death of Jaime Borchert – Obituary
Jaime Borchert, a 48-year-old woman from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was found dead Monday morning in her home on North Minnesota Avenue after being shot in the head, according to local police. Authorities allege her 22-year-old son, Nathaniel Borchert, was responsible for the shooting.
Officers arrived at the home following a report of an unresponsive person and discovered Jaime with an apparent gunshot wound. A pistol found at the scene is believed to have been the weapon used in the crime.
During the course of the homicide investigation, police found child pornography on Nathaniel Borchert’s phone, leading to additional charges. Investigators do not currently believe those charges are directly connected to the shooting incident.
Authorities noted prior calls to the residence involving family conflicts and confirmed that both mother and son were living together at the time. Nathaniel Borchert was taken into custody and is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
