Arthur Peters dies in fatal Dayton motorcycle crash

Fatal Dayton motorcycle crash death of Arthur Peters – Obituary

Arthur Peters, 46, lost his life following a motorcycle collision Saturday afternoon on Watervliet Avenue in Dayton, Ohio, according to local authorities.

Dayton Police say the crash happened around 4:30 p.m. when a driver, allegedly distracted while attempting to retrieve a dropped phone, veered across the center line into oncoming lanes. A second vehicle narrowly avoided a head-on collision but was grazed at the rear. Peters, riding his motorcycle behind that vehicle, was unable to avoid the swerving car and was struck directly.

He was rushed to Miami Valley Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after 5 p.m.

Police said the driver responsible for the crash was operating the vehicle despite having a suspended license. Sgt. Gordon Cairns stated during a Monday press briefing that this factor may elevate the vehicular assault charge to a felony. That driver was also taken to the hospital for reasons unrelated to the crash, while the driver of the clipped vehicle was not injured.

Authorities noted that Peters was not wearing a helmet, though it’s unclear whether one would have changed the outcome of his injuries. The case is now being reviewed by the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
