Fatal Kingman shooting death of Jack Lagerwey – Obituary

A man has died following a shooting involving a SWAT team in Kingman, Arizona. Authorities have identified the deceased as 56-year-old Jack Lagerwey.

The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on Friday when Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on Ty Street after receiving reports that a man was pouring gasoline inside the home and was armed.

Law enforcement attempted to get Lagerwey to exit the house, but he refused. A SWAT unit from both the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office and the Bullhead City Police Department was brought in to assist.

After a prolonged standoff, Lagerwey came out of the house but allegedly pointed a firearm at SWAT officers. In response, multiple officers opened fire, striking him.

Lagerwey was transported to a hospital in Kingman, where he was later pronounced dead. The Lake Havasu Police Department is now overseeing the investigation, and the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending further review.
