Fatal Lauderhill shooting death of Erika Williams – Obituary

Erika Williams, a 41-year-old woman from Bradenton, was fatally shot early Sunday morning while visiting Lauderhill for a family birthday celebration, according to local authorities.

 

Lauderhill police reported that the shooting happened around 2:15 a.m. in the 1700 block of NW 38th Avenue, near a church. Williams was caught in the crossfire when two men reportedly began shooting at each other. Officers arriving at the scene found two women suffering from gunshot wounds. Williams was declared dead at the scene, while the second woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

 

Witnesses shared that Williams had traveled to South Florida to attend a relative’s 62nd birthday. Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting, and no suspects have been identified at this time.

 

Police and crime scene technicians spent several hours Sunday morning gathering evidence in the area.
