Fatal Fulton County car crash death of Melissa Phelps – Obituary

Melissa Phelps, a 42-year-old woman from Havana, Illinois, was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Monday in Fulton County, as confirmed by the county coroner’s office.

The Illinois State Police responded shortly after noon to the scene of the collision at the junction of U.S. Route 136 and Illinois Route 78, just west of Havana. The crash involved a commercial vehicle and a passenger car driven by Phelps.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy conducted on Tuesday revealed that her death was due to multiple blunt force injuries sustained during the crash. A toxicology report is pending as required by state law.

The fatal incident remains under investigation by the Fulton County Coroner’s Office, the Illinois State Police, and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
