Fatal Bluffton, SC car crash death of Juan Tahual-Lopez – Obituary
Juan Tahual-Lopez, 43, was killed Monday in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 278 near Rose Hill Way in Bluffton, South Carolina, according to the Beaufort County Coroner’s Office.
The incident involved six vehicles traveling in both directions. A Ford pickup truck first struck two westbound vehicles before crossing the median and colliding with two eastbound vehicles: a Nissan sedan and a Chevrolet truck. A Toyota van subsequently hit both the Ford and Chevrolet.
Tahual-Lopez, the driver of the Chevrolet truck, suffered fatal blunt force injuries after being hit by both the Ford truck and the Toyota van. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several others were injured, including the Ford truck’s driver and front passenger, as well as the Nissan sedan driver, who were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Others involved did not report injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is leading the ongoing investigation into the crash. Bluffton Deputy Chief Adam Corn noted the difficult nature of the response and expressed sympathy to those affected by the tragic incident.
