Fatal Weslaco, TX pedestrian crash death of Cassandra Hernandez – Obituary

Cassandra I. Hernandez, a 27-year-old woman from Weslaco, lost her life in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning. The deadly incident happened at about 5:59 a.m. on Mile 4 W Road, just north of Mile 12 1/2 Road, in Weslaco, Texas.

According to information from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Hernandez had been walking south in the southbound lane when she was struck by a dark-colored car heading in the same direction. The driver did not stop and left the scene immediately.

First responders arrived shortly after but were unable to revive Hernandez. She was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of her injuries. Investigators are still working to identify the motorist responsible for the fatal collision.

Cassandra Hernandez’s death highlights the growing concern surrounding pedestrian safety across Texas, especially in hit-and-run cases. These tragic events often leave families overwhelmed not only with grief but also with unexpected financial and legal challenges.

In Texas, families affected by fatal pedestrian crashes may be able to pursue wrongful death claims when the responsible party is located. These claims can offer compensation for emotional distress, loss of companionship, and other related burdens. Due to the complexity of such cases, securing legal guidance is highly recommended.

Pedestrians are urged to remain visible and use sidewalks whenever possible. Still, drivers carry the duty to stay alert, especially in poorly lit areas and residential zones.

Our condolences go out to the loved ones of Cassandra Hernandez during this difficult time.
