Fatal Deer Park crash death of Robert Clauss – Obituary
Robert Clauss, 71, of Mount Prospect, lost his life following a serious collision in Deer Park on May 18, 2025.
The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Cook Road and Ferndale Road, where deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash involving two vehicles. Clauss was driving a 1985 Alfa Romeo westbound on Lake Cook Road when a 2025 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 75-year-old Deer Park man traveling eastbound, attempted to turn left onto northbound Ferndale Road. The Jeep driver reportedly did not see Clauss’s vehicle and initiated the turn, resulting in a collision.
Clauss was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington but was pronounced dead in the emergency room due to blunt force trauma sustained in the crash. A female passenger, aged 63 and also from Mount Prospect, was hospitalized in serious but stable condition. The Jeep driver suffered minor injuries and is cooperating with investigators.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team continues to look into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
