Fatal Roseland shooting death of Monte Potts – Obituary

Monte Potts, a 34-year-old man from Chicago, was killed in a shooting that took place Monday afternoon inside a business in the Roseland neighborhood on the city’s Far South Side. Authorities confirmed that Potts died after being shot in the back during the incident, which unfolded around 4 p.m. near East 111th and South State streets.

 

According to Chicago police, Potts and another man were involved in a dispute with an individual inside the business. The confrontation escalated when the suspect pulled out a firearm and opened fire.

 

Potts was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries. The second victim, who sustained gunshot wounds to the head and arm, remains in critical condition.

 

Police reported that the suspect was apprehended and taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators from CPD Area Two are handling the case as the inquiry into the shooting continues.
