Fatal Boulder County car crash death of John Wilkinson – Obituary

John Wilkinson, 41, lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident on Sunday near the intersection of 95th Street and Avocet Lane, just east of Boulder.

The collision occurred around 11:57 a.m., and the driver involved fled the scene. Authorities are now searching for a blue Toyota Highlander bearing Colorado license plate DTSG89. The vehicle is believed to have significant front-end damage and a missing windshield.

The Colorado State Patrol has asked anyone with information to call their dispatch line at 303-239-4501 and reference case number 1D251939.

In a statement released Tuesday, State Patrol Chief Col. Matthew C. Packard stressed the importance of road safety, especially for vulnerable individuals such as cyclists and pedestrians. He called the crash preventable and urged all road users to remain alert and follow traffic laws.

The investigation into Wilkinson’s death is ongoing.
