Fatal Austin pedestrian crash death of Erica Garza – Obituary
Twenty-year-old Erica Garza died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run incident that occurred in downtown Austin earlier this month. The crash happened around 4:59 a.m. on May 11 in the 700 block of East 7th Street, where a vehicle struck three pedestrians and fled the scene without stopping to help.
Garza was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, while the other two pedestrians suffered only minor wounds. Despite medical efforts, Garza succumbed to her injuries five days later, on May 16.
The driver, identified by police as 28-year-old Lily Bao Do, has since turned herself in. She is facing charges of collision involving death and collision involving injury.
The Austin Police Department is continuing its investigation into the fatal crash.
