Fatal Phoenix shooting death of Charlotte Trewhella – Obituary

Charlotte Trewhella, 80, was killed in what Phoenix police are calling a murder-suicide on Monday afternoon in the eastern part of the city. The incident occurred near the intersection of 42nd Way and Mariposa Street, not far from 44th Street and Camelback Road.

 

Police were called to the scene around 3:30 p.m., where they found both Charlotte and 81-year-old Mark Bernard Jeffrey Trewhella with gunshot wounds. Charlotte was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mark was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

 

Investigators believe Mark shot Charlotte before taking his own life. The motive behind the tragic act is still under investigation, as detectives continue gathering details surrounding the event.

 

The quiet neighborhood was briefly disrupted as multiple Phoenix police vehicles responded and cordoned off the area during the initial investigation.
