Fatal San Bernardino County death of Lorraine Bird – Obituary
Lorraine Bird, an 86-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms, was found dead in a secluded location off Highway 247 in Johnson Valley, San Bernardino County, nearly a week after being reported missing.
Family members initially alerted authorities on May 13 after being unable to contact Bird. On May 19, at approximately 5:16 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station responded to a call reporting a body near a cluster of large rocks off Bodick Road.
When officers arrived, they confirmed that the body found in the remote desert area was that of Bird. How she ended up in that location remains unknown, and authorities have not yet determined the cause of death. An autopsy is pending to provide further clarity.
Law enforcement has released limited details as the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with relevant information to contact Detective Eric Rebollar at 909-890-4904 or leave anonymous tips through We-Tip at 1-800-782-7463 or at wetip.com.
