Jackson Mwangi Macharia dies in fatal Nakuru shooting

Fatal Nakuru shooting death of Jackson Mwangi Macharia – Obituary

On the evening of Wednesday, May 21, well-known Nakuru businessman Jackson Mwangi Macharia was gunned down by armed robbers outside his home in Pipeline estate. His wife sustained injuries during the attack.

Witnesses said Macharia and his wife were closing up their roadside business when two assailants, one wielding a gun and the other a machete, confronted them. Despite handing over money, the robbers shot Macharia in the back, killing him on the spot, and wounded his wife in the arm.

The shocking incident sparked immediate outrage in the community, prompting residents to block roads and accuse law enforcement and local officials of failing to tackle the increasing wave of insecurity.

Locals pointed to overgrown vegetation along estate roads as a hiding place for criminals, while others criticized the lack of street lighting, which they believe enables such attacks to occur unchecked.

Police officers at the scene pledged to conduct a comprehensive investigation and increase patrols in the area. Authorities assured the public that those responsible would be pursued and held accountable.

The tragic murder follows recent similar attacks in the region, including the killing of another businessman in Migori earlier in the year, underscoring the growing concern over safety in several Kenyan communities.
