Fatal Santee jail custody death of Callen Lines – Obituary

Callen Lines, a 31-year-old resident of San Diego, died Monday evening after being found unresponsive in her cell at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee, according to local authorities.

Jail staff discovered Lines around 7:25 p.m. and immediately began CPR efforts. Paramedics from the Santee Fire Department then transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Lines had only been in custody for a single day and was facing charges including suspected vehicle theft and resisting arrest. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department stated that their Homicide Unit is carrying out a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

The official cause of death has not yet been determined.
