Stephen M. Gill dies in fatal Lehigh County tree removal accident

Fatal Lehigh County tree removal accident death of Stephen M. Gill – Obituary

Stephen M. Gill, 36, from West Penn Township in Schuylkill County, tragically lost his life in an accident while working in Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County. The incident occurred on the morning of May 22, when Gill was using an excavator to clear fallen trees on a property along the 3900 block of Spring Road.

Around 9 a.m., while operating the machinery, a rotating tree caught in the excavator struck Gill, hitting him with multiple heavy logs. He was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township but was pronounced dead just before 9:50 a.m. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries and ruled the death accidental.

Pennsylvania State Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit in Fogelsville is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
