Fatal Washington County car crash death of Francisco Javier Romero – Obituary
Francisco Javier Romero, 27, from McMinnville, lost his life in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 47 in Washington County on Wednesday night, according to the Oregon State Police.
Authorities say the crash occurred when a northbound Ford Econoline van, driven by 22-year-old Martin Santizo Santizo of Gervais, veered across the centerline and sideswiped Romero’s southbound Dodge Ram 1500. The impact caused Romero’s vehicle to overturn, and he was thrown from the truck due to not wearing a seatbelt. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Neither Santizo Santizo nor his 20-year-old passenger suffered injuries in the incident.
Law enforcement suspects impairment played a significant role in the crash. Santizo Santizo was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and criminally negligent homicide. He is currently held in jail.
The crash investigation caused delays on the highway for nearly ten hours.
