Kent Recklein dies in fatal Caseyville dog attack

Fatal Caseyville dog attack death of Kent Recklein – Obituary

Kent Recklein, 67, lost his life on Tuesday afternoon in Caseyville, Illinois, after being attacked by dogs during an attempt to intervene in a backyard dogfight.

 

According to Police Chief Woodrow Hall, the deadly incident took place around 2 p.m. on Susanne Court, close to Old Caseyville Road. Neighbors told authorities that three pitbulls lived at the residence where the attack occurred.

 

Witnesses reported that two of the dogs were engaged in a violent fight when Recklein and his son-in-law stepped in, attempting to separate them. During the struggle, Recklein was fatally injured.

 

The St. Clair County Coroner, Calvin Dye Sr., officially identified Recklein as the victim. Following the attack, animal control officers removed all three dogs from the property and transported them to the St. Clair County Animal Control Center.

 

The incident remains under investigation, and additional details are expected to be released once the inquiry is complete.
