Fatal Des Moines pedestrian hit-and-run death of Marco Antonio Cruz Cuenca – Obituary

Marco Antonio Cruz Cuenca, a 41-year-old resident of Kent, lost his life in a tragic hit-and-run incident on Thursday, May 22, in Des Moines, Washington. The fatal collision happened near the intersection of South 240th Street and Pacific Highway South, where Cruz Cuenca suffered multiple blunt force injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

 

First responders pronounced him dead at the scene. According to witnesses, the vehicle involved immediately fled the location following the impact.

 

Des Moines Police soon found the suspected vehicle parked near the 26000 block of 20th Avenue South, showing damage to the front end. Inside, officers discovered the driver along with three passengers. The driver, a 32-year-old man from Seattle, was taken into custody and booked on vehicular homicide charges.

 

Authorities have not yet confirmed if impairment contributed to the incident. The Kent Police Department continues to investigate all surrounding details of the crash.

 

The loss of Marco Antonio Cruz Cuenca has raised fresh concerns about pedestrian safety along the heavily trafficked Pacific Highway corridor in South King County.
