Charles Wilburn Presler dies in fatal Lancaster County shooting

Fatal Lancaster County shooting death of Charles Wilburn Presler – Obituary

Charles Wilburn Presler, 65, of Rock Hill, was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound at his business on Memorial Park Road in Lancaster County. Authorities linked the shooting to an earlier domestic disturbance involving the suspect, Baskins.

Following the domestic incident, Baskins fled the scene on foot. His family later spotted him on Willow Lake Road in Lancaster and notified law enforcement. After a brief pursuit, officers apprehended him. They also recovered a burgundy 1997 Toyota 4-Runner, which was identified as Presler’s vehicle.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a pistol and documents belonging to Presler. Investigators believe Baskins went to Presler’s business shortly after the family dispute and committed the fatal shooting.

Lancaster County Coroner Karla Deese confirmed Presler’s identity, and an autopsy is scheduled to further investigate the cause of death.

Baskins now faces a range of charges including Murder, Armed Robbery, Burglary, Grand Larceny, and several firearms offenses. Additionally, he has been charged with multiple crimes stemming from the earlier domestic incident. A magistrate denied bond on Thursday. Baskins previously served as a sheriff’s deputy for two years.
