Fatal Los Angeles scooter crash death of Kelly Calderon – Obituary
Kelly Calderon, a 28-year-old woman, was killed in a hit-and-run crash while riding a scooter in the Westmont area of Los Angeles shortly after midnight on April 8. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, she was crossing Figueroa Street westbound near Colden Avenue when she was struck by a northbound vehicle.
The driver did not stop after hitting her and continued driving north on Figueroa Street. Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived quickly but pronounced Calderon dead at the scene.
Authorities later identified the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Kia Optima or Kia K5. The car is believed to have extensive damage to the right side of the hood, the bumper, and the passenger-side door.
To encourage leads, officials have offered a reward of up to $50,000 for any information that results in the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person responsible for the fatal collision. Anyone with tips is urged to contact LAPD Officer Lopez Del Haro or use anonymous tip lines provided by Crime Stoppers.
