Fatal Gresham shooting death of Jeffery Daniel – Obituary
A third teenager has been taken into custody in connection to a deadly drive-by shooting that occurred in Gresham, Oregon, earlier this month.
Police responded to the 3500 block of Southeast Richey Road on May 13 following reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered bullet casings scattered in the roadway and a home that had been hit by gunfire. There were no injuries found at the scene.
Shortly afterward, a man suffering from a gunshot wound, later identified as Jeffery Daniel, showed up at a hospital accompanied by two teens. Authorities reported the vehicle they arrived in had been reported stolen. The car departed before officers arrived, but it has since been recovered.
The two juveniles were taken into custody. Investigators determined that Daniel and the three teenagers, including the pair brought to the hospital, were responsible for carrying out the shooting. During the incident, another individual inside the vehicle fired a gun, striking Daniel. He succumbed to his injuries on May 17.
Law enforcement located the third suspect at a residence in Northeast Portland and arrested them on Tuesday. The Gresham Major Crimes Team and Portland Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team were involved in the operation.
All three suspects, each 16 years old, are now facing multiple charges including murder, attempted murder, unlawful weapon use, and conspiracy.
Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Detective Frederick Huffman or Detective Tim Snider at the Gresham Police Department.
