Fatal St. Clair County shooting death of Mark Morris Jr. – Obituary
Mark Morris Jr., 26, lost his life in a deadly shooting that took place on May 12, 2025, in the 2200 block of Kingshighway, St. Clair County, Illinois. The incident involved Donovan Davis, a 27-year-old from St. Charles, Missouri, who has been charged with First-Degree Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
According to authorities, Morris Jr. was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. An off-duty Washington Park Police officer, serving as armed security at the time, intervened during the attack and shot Davis, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.
The Illinois State Police and Washington Park Police Department carried out a joint investigation. On May 22, 2025, the case was referred to St. Clair County State’s Attorney James Gomric, who formally charged Davis. Davis remains in custody at the St. Clair County Jail as the investigation continues.
