Edward Johnson dies in fatal Dix Hills car crash

Fatal Dix Hills car crash death of Edward Johnson – Obituary

Edward Johnson, a 31-year-old resident of Deer Park, lost his life in a tragic car accident on Commack Road in Dix Hills on May 23.

According to Suffolk County Police Second Squad, Johnson was driving a 2005 Mazda heading north on Commack Road near Euclid Avenue at approximately 9:05 a.m. when the vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane and collided with a tractor trailer. Johnson was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Sergio Mendoza, 60, from Patterson, New Jersey, received medical attention at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip and was later discharged.

Officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section inspected the tractor trailer at the site of the collision. The Mazda was taken for a safety evaluation. Authorities urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
