Fatal Springfield Township car crash death of Isabelle Grubaugh – Obituary
Eighteen-year-old Isabelle Grubaugh of Akron lost her life in a single-car accident early Saturday morning in Springfield Township, Summit County, Ohio. The incident occurred around 1:26 a.m. on Massillon Road near Clayben Drive.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta was heading south when it veered off the road, hit a guardrail and a utility pole, and eventually overturned before coming to a stop upright in the roadway.
Isabelle, a passenger in the car, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver survived and was transported to Summa Health-Akron City Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Authorities reported that neither Isabelle nor the driver was wearing a seatbelt, and that drugs and alcohol are suspected to have contributed to the crash. Springfield Township police and fire crews, along with First Energy, Miller’s Towing, and the Ohio Department of Transportation, responded to the scene.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
