Bullhead, Arizona Woman Tyna Castillo Found Dead in California Desert; Jared Winer Arrested for Murder

BULLHEAD, AZ — Tyna Castillo, a 42-year-old resident of Bullhead, was found dead in the desert near Needles, California, 18 months after she went missing. Authorities have charged Jared Winer, 44, in connection with her murder.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Winer was taken into custody on May 6 during a traffic stop by Bullhead City Police. Authorities say Castillo disappeared on December 11, 2023, after leaving Arizona to meet Winer in California. She was reported missing on February 4, 2024.

Castillo’s body was discovered on March 5 in a remote desert area along the Colorado River. Investigators said she had suffered at least one gunshot wound. After reopening the case in September 2024, detectives gathered new evidence that led to Winer’s arrest.

Winer was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on murder charges and an outstanding felony parole violation. He will be extradited to California to face trial following his Arizona proceedings.
