Fatal Marlborough house fire death of Robert Hranek – Obituary
Robert Hranek, 83, lost his life after a fire engulfed his Marlborough, Massachusetts home in the early morning hours of May 12.
Emergency crews from Marlborough responded to the blaze around 4:35 a.m. at a residence located at 11 Hanlon Drive, following a report from a passerby. Upon arrival, firefighters found the home completely overtaken by flames, with fire pouring through the roof and no audible smoke alarms.
Hranek, who lived alone at the property, was believed to be trapped inside. Firefighters discovered him unresponsive inside the residence and quickly removed him from the structure. He was transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead later that morning.
The fire, which caused severe damage to the home, was brought under control within about 30 minutes with help from both Marlborough and Southborough fire departments. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators are still working to identify the cause of the fire, but early findings suggest it was accidental. No functioning smoke detectors were found in the wreckage.
