Fatal Chattanooga police shooting death of Alricko Trimble, Jr. – Obituary
Alricko Trimble, Jr., a 21-year-old man, was shot and killed by Chattanooga police officers last week in the parking lot of the Hamilton Place mall. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed his identity in a statement released Monday.
The incident unfolded on Friday when officers approached a vehicle with three occupants on foot. The individuals inside the car attempted to flee, and the vehicle became caught in traffic. According to police, the driver, later identified as Trimble, began ramming other cars in an effort to escape. During the attempt to stop him, one of the officers was hit by the vehicle.
Police fired at Trimble in response to the perceived threat, resulting in his death at the scene. One passenger in the car was also shot and hospitalized but has since been released. The third individual in the vehicle was unharmed.
The two officers involved have been placed on administrative leave while the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation conducts a full inquiry.
Court records show that Trimble had prior encounters with law enforcement, including charges of theft, drug possession, and evading arrest in the years following his 18th birthday.
