Fatal Kansas City shooting death of Zavion N. Horn – Obituary
Zavion N. Horn, 34, was identified as the man who lost his life in a triple shooting Saturday night outside a business along Troost Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.
Officers were called to the 5500 block of Troost Avenue around 9:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, police discovered evidence of the shooting in a business parking lot, but all three victims had already been taken to the hospital.
Horn was unresponsive upon arrival and was pronounced dead shortly after. The two other individuals, a man and a woman, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
Authorities believe the violence began when two men got into an altercation that quickly escalated into gunfire. The suspect fled the area on foot, and no arrests have been made.
Investigators and crime scene teams collected evidence and interviewed witnesses at the scene. As of now, police have not released any suspect details.
Horn’s death marked the 65th homicide in Kansas City for the year, surpassing the 57 recorded by the same time last year. His 35th birthday would have been the following Monday.
