Fatal Starkey farm accident death of Mark C. Collins – Obituary

Mark C. Collins, a 75-year-old resident of Dundee, New York, lost his life on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in a tractor rollover on a farm in the Town of Starkey, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded around 5 p.m. to a report of a tractor accident on state Route 14A, where they found Collins unresponsive on the ground near the overturned vehicle. He was quickly given medical aid and taken to Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, but did not survive his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed Collins had been operating the tractor and was trying to maneuver around a culvert when he accidentally reversed too close to the edge. The tractor tipped and landed in a creek, leading to the fatal outcome.

Emergency support was provided by the Dundee Fire Department, Yates County Ambulance, and the Office of Emergency Management. The incident remains under official review.
