Atmore, Alabama Man James Williamson Arrested in Atmore for Aggravated Animal Cruelty

ATMORE, ALABAMA — James Williamson, a 44-year-old resident of Atmore, was arrested in connection with a disturbing case of aggravated animal cruelty that occurred on Monday, May 19.

According to the Atmore Police Department, Williamson was taken into custody after allegedly placing a chihuahua puppy in a hot oven and killing it. Authorities say the incident followed an argument with a family member, during which Williamson reportedly threatened to harm the dog due to its barking. He then allegedly followed through, putting the puppy in the oven, turning it on, and using a chair to block the oven door.

Neighbors reported hearing the puppy’s cries before officers arrived. Sergeant Darrell McMann stated that he discovered the deceased puppy in the driveway with severe burns.

Williamson was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center and is currently facing charges related to the incident.
