David S. Percey, a 61-year-old man from Cambridge, New York, lost his life in a motorcycle accident Friday afternoon on Route 9 in Wilmington, Vermont.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, Percey was operating a 2015 BMW R1200 GS motorcycle and heading eastbound near Haystack Road when he veered out of his lane and collided with a guardrail. Emergency responders from Deerfield Valley Rescue transported him to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:39 p.m., leading to a partial closure of Route 9 while authorities responded to the scene.

Police stated that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is assisting in determining the exact cause of death, and the investigation remains ongoing. Witnesses to the crash are asked to contact the Wilmington Police Department.
