Akron, Ohio Man Calvin Hunt Arrested in Akron for Shooting at Police Officers
AKRON, OHIO — Calvin Hunt, a 45-year-old resident of Akron, was arrested in Akron in connection with a shooting that involved an exchange of gunfire with police officers late Sunday night.
According to the Akron Police Department, Hunt was taken into custody on Monday at the Envision Apartments on Sherman Street following an incident in which he allegedly shot at officers responding to a nearby welfare check. Authorities say the shooting occurred shortly before midnight on Sunday and involved a 27-year-old woman who had been shot in the leg.
Hunt reportedly fled the scene after firing at officers, who returned fire. He was apprehended later in the area. A second suspect, a 33-year-old man involved in the earlier shooting but who did not fire at police, was also arrested nearby.
Hunt was transported to a local detention facility and is currently facing three counts of felonious assault.
