Fatal Greece vineyard shooting death of Altin Arapaj – Obituary
Altin Arapaj, a 41-year-old Albanian man, was fatally shot in a rural vineyard area near Rafina, Greece.
According to Greek authorities, Arapaj managed to call his wife before passing away, revealing the name of his attacker. His wife promptly informed the police, leading to the arrest of a 46-year-old Albanian man suspected of the shooting. The suspect was found late Thursday night at an Airbnb in Glyka Nera by DIAS police officers and taken into custody. Two additional individuals were also arrested for their alleged involvement in the crime.
Reports indicate that the incident unfolded after a meeting the previous Tuesday evening in Artemida involving Arapaj, the suspect, and two others. The group traveled by car to Rafina, where the suspect reportedly pulled out a gun and shot Arapaj in the cheek at the intersection of Pefkon and Arionos streets.
Despite being wounded, Arapaj fled on foot, contacted his wife to warn her, and then died from his injuries. The suspect fled the scene by car. Both the victim and the alleged perpetrator had previous run-ins with authorities regarding drug-related offenses.
Investigations continue as authorities work to piece together the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
