Fatal Northeast El Paso pedestrian crash death of Helen Clanan – Obituary
Helen Clanan, 90, lost her life following a pedestrian-involved crash that occurred on Tuesday evening, May 20, in Northeast El Paso, according to local authorities.
Police were dispatched around 8 p.m. to the 9300 block of Stahala Drive after receiving reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations team responded to the scene.
Investigators determined that a GMC Sierra was heading west on Rutherford Drive and had stopped at the intersection with Stahala Drive. When the vehicle proceeded to make a left turn, it struck Clanan as she was walking in the crosswalk.
She was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Authorities were later informed that she had died from her injuries three days after the incident.
This incident marks the 24th traffic-related death in El Paso this year.
