Fatal Jackson County house fire death of Amy Hickam – Obituary
Amy Hickam, a 49-year-old resident of Jacob, Illinois, lost her life in a house fire that broke out in mid-March. The blaze consumed her home located at 60 West Jacob Road on March 15, 2025.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene to find the structure completely engulfed in flames. Fire crews from multiple local departments worked together to bring the fire under control.
Hickam was identified as a resident of the home and was pronounced dead as a result of the fire.
Investigators from both the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Fire Marshall’s office are examining the cause and timeline of the incident.
Emergency responders assisting at the scene included personnel from the Murphysboro, MPS, Tower Rock, Ava, and Campbell Hill Fire Departments, as well as the Jackson County Ambulance Service, the Illinois State Fire Marshall, and the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.
