Fatal Polk City motorcycle crash death of Theodore Enns – Obituary

On May 24, a tragic motorcycle accident in Polk City led to the death of 72-year-old Theodore Enns of Mascotte, according to a report from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred around 9:40 a.m. on Green Pond Road near San Juan Avenue. Authorities received a 911 call about a serious crash involving motorcyclists. Enns was leading a westbound group of bikers on a Harley Davidson when he failed to stay in his lane while navigating a right-hand curve. His motorcycle crossed into the path of oncoming traffic.

At that moment, another group of riders was traveling eastbound. The lead motorcyclist in that group, who was operating a Ducati, was hit by Enns’ Harley. Both riders were thrown from their bikes due to the impact.

Bystanders attempted CPR on Enns until Polk Fire Rescue arrived and took over. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was declared deceased. Authorities noted that Enns was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The 61-year-old man riding the Ducati, a Tampa resident, sustained multiple injuries, including fractures and a collapsed lung. He remains hospitalized as he continues to recover.
