27-year-old men from Rotterdam and Nieuwer Ter Aa die in fatal Vinkeveen car crash

27-year-old men from Rotterdam and Nieuwer Ter Aa die in fatal Vinkeveen car crash

Fatal Vinkeveen car crash death of 27-year-old men from Rotterdam and Nieuwer Ter Aa – Obituary

Two 27-year-old men, one from Rotterdam and the other from Nieuwer Ter Aa, lost their lives after their car veered into a body of water in Vinkeveen. Authorities believe the vehicle entered the water around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

A witness spotted the submerged car on Ter Aase Zuwe at approximately 10:35 a.m. the following day, Thursday. The police are still piecing together what led to the crash and have not shared further specifics. RTV Utrecht reported visible skid marks on the road, which appear to lead to a trampled section of the roadside and tracks in the earth.

A resident in the vicinity recalled that the victims’ loved ones visited the crash site to place red roses and candles. The same resident mentioned hearing a loud noise around 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Along with a neighbor, he searched the area but didn’t find any signs of a crash at the time.

The man’s wife also looked around their yard for any indication of what happened. She later expressed regret for not checking the road for tire marks, wondering if early intervention might have saved the men’s lives.

The vehicle, based on damage to its front and its wheels, is believed to be a Skoda Octavia 4 Sportline or possibly a vRS model, the latter being a performance version capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6.5 seconds.
