Fatal Kamloops motel shooting death of Keenan James Robertson – Obituary

Keenan James Robertson, 29, has been publicly identified as the man who was fatally shot at a Kamloops motel one year ago.

Police were called to the Trans Canada Motel on May 31, 2024, located in the 2500 block of the East Trans-Canada Highway in Valleyview. Upon arrival, officers discovered Robertson deceased inside one of the motel rooms.

According to Kamloops RCMP, the release of Robertson’s identity comes as part of an effort to generate new leads in the ongoing investigation. Cpl. Dana Napier stated that investigators in the serious crime unit continue to work diligently on the case and hope that naming the victim might bring forward helpful information.

Authorities have released limited details about the incident but confirmed that Robertson’s killing is not believed to be associated with the drug-related violence occurring in the city at that time.

A staff member at the motel told Castanet shortly after the incident that Robertson had been accompanied by a woman during his brief stay, which lasted one or two nights. The employee mentioned that another individual may have visited the room before the shooting occurred.

Investigators have stated that the killing was likely targeted and not random.

Police are urging anyone with relevant information, photos, or video footage connected to the case to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 as the investigation remains active.
